What We Do and How We Work
Our framing studio is in our home at South Most Cottage in Contin. We operate an appointment based service - please phone us and we will arrange a convenient time for you to visit. This can include evenings or Saturdays.
During your visit we are happy to discuss with you how your work is to be framed. You may have very specific ideas about how you want it done, or you may leave the design of the frame and the mount entirely up to us. We will provide a quote there and then and there is no obligation for you to proceed.
Everything we do here is handmade. Frames and mounts are designed to compliment the artworks and are made from a wide range of exclusive mouldings and the finest Artcare mountboards. We aim not only to enhance but to protect your artwork from the ravages of time for as long as possible.
Mountboards vary greatly in quality. We stock Bainbridge Nielsen Artcare mountboards, the only mountboard that is designed to protect your artwork from airborne pollutants that would otherwise damage it.
Artcare contains Zeolites, microscopic particles which scavenge all the harmful chemicals contained in the atmosphere of the average home or office, trapping them and locking them up. No other board can do this.
It's virtually fadeless and the colours won't run and ruin your artwork. Artcare technology is also approved and used by many of the world's leading museums and art collections because independent laboratory tests prove that it out-performs all other boards. With Artcare your artwork will keep its fresh new look.
Artcare has nearly twice as many colours in its range as anyone else. This helps to create a mount that is perfect for your artwork.
The Artcare Label
We use metal and wood frames supplied by Bainbridge Nielsen. We have hundreds of samples on display at our studio ranging from basic simple mouldings to unique innovative designs that can be used for artworks where nothing but the best will do.
Nielsen are the world market leaders in the design and manufacture of aluminium mouldings which offer unique design opportunities. Additionally, the qualities of aluminium offer benefits for picture framing: it is light and strong. This allows for beautiful presentation options for larger format artwork using minimal, contemporary mouldings.
The Nielsen aluminium range has the widest selection of profile shapes and colours, offering unrivalled creative options.
The Nielsen families of wood frames are unmatched in both their extensive collection of styles and quality of finish. These frames are actually wood, we don't use MDF, Plastic or other cheap equivalents that won't stand the test of time. Our wood frames range from basic and simple styling, traditional and ornate to modern, reflecting current trends and the changing tastes of consumers. Made from oak, ash, obeche and so on these frames are made to last and are beautiful to look at.
The 'Exclusives' collection, only available from Nielsen, showcases a wide spectrum of mouldings from leading manufacturers and designers. They are innovative and unique. The range of frame choices we have is huge but we will be very happy to guide you in the task of selecting the right frame for your artwork.
